Description

DJ KAWASAKI's debut album, "Beautiful," released in 2006, is finally getting its first LP release to commemorate its 20th anniversary.

This album, which uniquely blends jazz, crossover, soul, Brazilian, and house music to create a beautiful world, is the starting point of DJ KAWASAKI's career and an indispensable work when discussing the subsequent Japanese crossover/house scene. Featuring talented vocalists from Japan and abroad such as Lady Alma, Angela Johnson, Terrance Downs, Ernesto, Rasiyah, and Karin, the tracks combine the dynamism of dance music with the warmth of soul music, and continue to captivate listeners even 20 years later.

For this LP release, all tracks have been newly edited for the analog format. The album's flow and groove have been refined, resulting in a fresh experience even for listeners familiar with the original.

The jacket features Lina Fujii, who later became a top model. The photographs were taken by photographer Yasumasa Yonehara, who has consistently captured the vibrant culture scene of Tokyo from the 1990s to the present day. For this LP release, designer Yusuke Yoshinaga (solla Inc.), who also works as a DJ, updated the artwork for the analog format while inheriting the original worldview.

The overall production is by Shuya Okino, who continues to perform globally with KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE and KYOTO JAZZ SEXTET. Along with DJ KAWASAKI's own track production, the energy of the club culture of the time and the refined musical aesthetic are strongly imprinted in this work.

The charm of the record medium lies in being able to enjoy the flow and atmosphere of the album, and even the lingering feeling of each individual song, which cannot be fully conveyed through streaming. 20 years after its release, 'Beautiful,' born with the energy of club culture, has been listened to across generations and now resonates with its charm in a new format. Please experience the rich groove and beautiful lingering feeling of this work on analog.
