“Epic Anime” – New Officially Authorized Orchestral Arrangements of Iconic Anime Themes on Sony Music

Epic Anime is an extraordinary collection of newly created orchestral arrangements of some of the most iconic anime themes, officially authorized by the original studios and publishers. The album by the NDR Radiophilharmonie, conducted by Michael England, will be released on February 13 via Sony Music Masterworks. It will be available digitally in stereo and the immersive Dolby Atmos format, as well as physically on 2×180g “oxblood”–colored vinyl and CD. The album was produced in co-production with Norddeutscher Rundfunk.

Epic Anime features a distinguished lineup of guest soloists, including violinists Esther Abrami, Andrea Cicalese, and Niklas Liepe; cellists Mariko Muranaka and Raphaela Gromes; accordionist Martynas; and pianists Tim Allhoff and Louis Philippson. Selected tracks also feature the Pop-Up Choir, as well as a rock band comprising some of the finest session musicians.

The album presents new symphonic interpretations of popular anime themes from Demon Slayer, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Naruto, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Bleach, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Spirited Away, and other productions. All arrangements and recordings were created with the explicit approval of the respective rights holders, ensuring the highest level of authenticity. The album celebrates the rich musical tradition of the anime genre while adding a strikingly cinematic dimension to the original works.

Epic Anime is aimed equally at anime fans, soundtrack enthusiasts, and lovers of orchestral music.
