WOODKID Composes the Music for the Highly Anticipated PlayStation Game Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. The album will be released by Milan Records/Sony Masterworks.
With his new album WOODKID FOR DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH, created for the eagerly awaited game by Hideo Kojima, WOODKID elevates the concept of game music to a whole new level. The songs are inspired by Kojima’s storytelling, his characters, and the world of Death Stranding—unfolding as a standalone body of work rich in depth, contrast, and atmosphere.
WOODKID, born Yoann Lemoine, is a French singer and composer. With his distinctive blend of orchestral drama, electronic precision, and emotional depth, he has made an international name for himself in both the music and film industries—as a musician and as a video director for artists such as Rihanna, Lana Del Rey, Pharrell Williams, and Harry Styles. His music has been featured in numerous film, series, and video game productions (Arcane, Assassin’s Creed, The Umbrella Academy). He has received multiple Grammy and MTV Award nominations, and his single Run Boy Run has been streamed over 500 million times. WOODKID is also present in the fashion world—with music composed for shows by Louis Vuitton and Dior.
Over a period of more than three years, WOODKID worked closely with Kojima and the Kojima Productions team to create music that goes far beyond traditional soundtracks. “Every song, every theme was composed in countless variations and layers,” WOODKID explains. The result is an album that merges cinematic orchestral arrangements with electronic soundscapes and haunting vocal lines.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is the latest creation from Hideo Kojima, one of the most visionary minds in the gaming world. As the sequel to the critically acclaimed first installment—which reached over 20 million players worldwide—the game continues to explore themes of connection, isolation, and responsibility, bringing them into a new narrative dimension. The title also features a star-studded cast, including Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, Troy Baker, Elle Fanning, and Shioli Kutsuna, and a storyline inspired by the global experiences of recent years.
From delicate melodies to explosive breakcore moments—every track tells a story. WOODKID traveled between Paris, Los Angeles, and Tokyo to capture Kojima’s creative vision. “Sometimes it’s hard to fully grasp Hideo’s vision because it constantly evolves. You have to trust the process—and the result is always overwhelming,” he says. What has emerged is more than just a soundtrack: it is a manifesto of artistic freedom, a musical counterpoint to convention—and a tribute to being different.
The first single, To The Wilder, was released in March 2025 and has already surpassed 3.7 million streams worldwide. The album will be available digitally, as well as in vinyl and CD editions—both featuring the game’s stunning artwork and designed as lovingly crafted collector’s items for the global fan community.
In addition to WOODKID’s album, two more releases will accompany the game: a score album and another song-based album featuring yet-to-be-announced artists. Both will be released digitally via Milan Records.
The game Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will be released on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation®5.
